Enteral Feeding - The Basics

A feeding tube is a series of medical devices used to provide nutrition to people who cannot obtain nutrition by mouth, are unable to swallow safely, or need additional nutritional supplementation. This state of feeding is called Enteral Feeding or Tube Feeding.

People that need Enteral Feeding require nutrients beyond the oesophagus (food tract) via feeding tubes (eg. tubes moving through the nasal cavity and throat, or, directly into the stomach or intestines itself) for special medical purposes.

Community access is paramount, especially having a safe place for people to eat comfortably, however they eat. We understand the unfamiliarity some might have with Enteral Feeding, and hope to educate people on it, as it's quite a normal part of many Australian's lives... Eating!

The people involved in-front of the camera, and behind the scenes of our cafe are all affected in some way with this lived experience. 

We want all people to have a safe space to enjoy a meal, and to help themselves and others by learning! It is crucial to us, and part of who we are, that all people are treated as just that, PEOPLE!
